Although the pilot is still untitled, Roland Emmerich’s new sci-fi pilot for ABC is gaining attention. It’s now been reported that Martin Landau will be joining the cast of what could be an epic series.

The premise of this untitled pilot is about a young man named Carter who is an astrophysics grad student who learns that he is the chosen one to destroy the forces of evil. Landau will be playing the role of Mr. Armin, a blind former World War II German soldier who is the executor of Carter’s father’s estate and Carter’s only true friend.

Landau has had a very extensive career and has appeared in many sci-fi shows and movies such as ‘Space 1999’, ‘Outer Limits’, ‘Twilight Zone’ and the 1995 series ‘Spider-Man.’ His most recent appearances include a voice over in ‘The Simpsons’ as The Great Raymondo, and guest stints on ‘In Plain Sight’, ‘Entourage’ and  ‘Without a Trace.’

He will be joining Max Thierot (‘Jumper’, ‘My Soul to Take’, ‘The Pacifier’) who was cast in the lead role of Carter Henderson. Thierot can be seen in the upcoming films ‘Disconnect’ and the horror film ‘The House at the End of the Street.’

The pilot will be directed by Emmerich who wrote the script with his ‘2012’ collaborator Harald Kloser. Both men will also wear the executive producers’ hat along with Mark Gordon.

I must admit, even without a title, this is a pilot I hope will make it to series. Martin Landau is a great addition to any cast and with Emmerich behind the scenes, it could really make for some good television viewing!
