There are a few tid bits in the movie world today on some great upcoming sci-fi movies so here are some of them all in one place!

‘GHOSTRIDER 2: SPIRITS OF VENGENCE’

With the release of the movie just 5 months away, will co-director’s Brian Taylor’s vision of turning Ghost Rider from superhero to horror star succeed? We’ll just have to wait, but luckily he gave some insight as to what we can expect in a video interview with Collider. In it, he talks about Nichlas Cage and Idris Elba’s roles in the movie (Taylor states that Elba “will blow people’s minds!”), what the most insane thing they did during filming and what to expect as extras on the DVD/Blu-ray edition. Fans of the movie will really be excited to hear what he has to say!

‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence’ stars Nicholas Cage, Idris Elba (‘Prometheus), Christopher Lambert (‘Highlander’) and Ciaran Hinds as the Devil and is scheduled to open in theaters on February 17, 2012.

‘MEN IN BLACK 3’

Agent J (Will Smith), Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and their government issued shades in the third installment of the ‘Men in Black’ franchise, ‘Men in Black 3.’  This time, they travel back in time to team up with the younger version of Agent K (played by Josh Brolin).

Acclaimed special effects makeup artist Rick Baker, was hired on to create the aliens for the movie and gave a bit of insight as to what to expect. He promises that ‘Men in Black 3’ will be featuring an extensive array of all new alien effects. In an exclusive with Shock to Ya Drop, Baker reveals, “The thing that’s cool is there is a time travel element [to the story]. Where I had fun is that we go back to the Men in Black headquarters of the ’60s. The first thing I said is that we should have retro aliens, not aliens of 2012. More based on B-movies of the ’50s and ’60s. So, a lot of the aliens are based on that. Space suits with fishbowl helmets and ray guns.”

The fact that we’ll get to see more of an alien that isn’t computer generated is a big plus so far! I can already picture what some of these aliens will look like! So which iconic 50’s/60’s celebrity do you think we’ll find out is actually an alien being this time around?

Along with Smith and Jones, ‘Men in Black’ will also star Jemaine Clement, Emma Thompson, Nicole Scherzinger, Alice Eve and Michael Stuhlbarg and has a release date of May 25, 2012.

‘WANTED 2’

Universal has just announced that the original writers from the Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy movie ‘Wanted’ are back again to script the sequel!

Derek Haas and Michael Brandt have been hired to re-work the screenplay of ‘Wanted 2’ that has already been written by Evan Spiliotopoulous back in 2009. In a statement to The Wrap, Hass says that “Wanted 2 is going to take off after the events of what just happened. Pick up Wesley a few years later and go back in for another round. ..We just always loved the Wanted world and loved working with Universal and director Timur Bekmambetov on the first one, so we’re excited.”

So far the project is still in development and has no director or even stars attached to the film. It is hoped to sign McAvoy to the project (as his character was the only one that survived the first installment) but so far his schedule is pretty filled up as he is scheduled to work on the movie ‘Filth’ and is the front runner to play Elton John in the movie ‘Rocketman.’ As for the other actors from the first film, many of them may have trouble returning as their characters were killed off.

‘Wanted’ was loosely based on the comic books by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones and is about a frustrated accountant who discovers his father was a professional assassin and decides to join the secret society his father worked for.

There is no date as of yet to when this film will be released.
