You know the filming of a scene must be epic if it makes the local news in Los Angeles. Although the action wasn’t filmed, pictures of the special effects shoot for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ appeared on Fox News in Los Angeles last night.

For the past couple days, we’ve posted pictures of a colossal car pile-up at the mouth of a tunnel. It has now been confirmed on Fox News that these will be used in scenes involving the aftermath of a massive explosion. These photos appeared on their Facebook page with the heading “The pictures that Warner Brothers doesn’t want you to see!” The pictures include one aerial shot and one street shot:

According to the production’s filming notice, the tunnel scene involved a “car explosion, afterburn, fireballs (and) black powder.”

Videos were also leaked regarding the past weekend’s film shoot. Although no video of actual shooting was taken, you do get a better look at the tunnel scene set up.  The last video is of the Wayne Building where they filmed a boardroom meeting that rebels try to take over.

According to blogdowntown, the explosive filming will continue into next weekend underneath the 6th Street Viaduct and will include “a platform on riverbed to bridge footing that resembles ice as well as an explosion, fire ball and air mortars.” Now whether or not this explosion is tied into the one that they filmed in Cleveland where a Tumbler fell into a 16’x18’ hole, we don’t know yet but once we find out, we’ll let you know!

So any readers heading out that way let us know! We’d love to see the action you catch with your camera. But above all, please be respectful to the studio personnel who are working the location shooting. In any case, keep checking back here for more ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ updates!

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will be released in theaters on July 20, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marion Cotillard.
