Not much can be said about the new characters in the movie ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation’ and with the sequel losing all but 3 of the original actors, speculation has been abound about who will fill the new Joe roster. Thanks to io9, however, we can get a sneak peak of who they may be.
We already know that Bruce Willis is in negotiations to play the first G.I. Joe (General Joe Colton) and that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be playing Roadblock. Casting notices have revealed information about the other characters in the movie. Although some are reporting spoilers from these casting notices, Paramount has stated that casting pages aren’t an accurate reflection of what is actually in the movie script. They do, however, confirm the names and the basic character outlines about them.
Here are what the producers are looking to cast:
Walker (New Joe): wise cracker of the bunch
Robyn (New Joe): gun loving expert who talks lovingly about her latest ultra-high tech rifle
Walker (New Joe): boy from the ‘hood
Cross (New Joe): male; 25-35 years old; any ethnicity; and a soldier (maybe the character Cross Country?)
Young Storm Shadow: there apparently will be a flashback scene with him and the Blind Master (RZA)
Lecter: a villain who’s a creator of high-tech weapons for the bad guys and who helps Zartan with his bid for power.
World Leaders: they are looking for lots of extras to fill in the seats of what looks like a world summit where the Joes are present.
It also looks like the sequel will pick up from the first film with Zartan (the master of disguise that he is) still impersonating the President. Production of the movie begins later this month. ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation’ will be out in theaters June 29, 2012.
