American Horror Story: 1984
FX

Campers, prepare to meet Brooke Thompson, Xavier Plympton, Chet Clancy, Ray Powell, Nurse Rita, Margaret Booth, and Trevor Kirchner, the counselors and staff at Camp Redwood, the setting for ‘American Horror Story: 1984’, the ninth installment of the popular horror anthology series from the minds of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

FX has released a series of character posters that reveal the names of the new characters.  Emma Roberts portrays Brooke, Cody Fern plays Xavier, Olympic skiier Gus Kenworthy portrays Brooke’s boyfriend Chet, and fellow newcomer DeRon Horton (‘Dear White People’) portrays Ray.  Angelica Ross, who recently starred on Murphy’s other FX hit ‘Pose’, joins as Nurse Rita, while ‘AHS’ returnee Leslie Grossman portrays Margaret, and Matthew Morrison, who starred on Murphy’s FOX hit ‘Glee’ portrays the, ahem, well-endowed Trevor.

John Carroll Lynch who previously portrayed the terrifying Twisty the Clown in ‘Freak Show’ and ‘Cult’, plays escaped mental patient Mr. Jingles.  (His escape is being investigated by ‘The X-Files” Mitch Pileggi.)

Zach Villa makes his ‘American Horror Story’ debut as the real-life serial killer and rapist Richard Ramirez.  This is certainly not the first time a real-life killer has appeared on the series.  Often, the actors playing them also portray other, fictional characters on the show, so it remains to be seen if Villa will do the same.

The new series is a tribute to ’80s slasher movies like ‘Friday the 13th’.  Of course, this is ‘American Horror Story’ and the story could take a massive 180 by the fourth episode.  But we don’t have long to wait.  ‘American Horror Story: 1984’ kicks off on FX tonight.
