With October approaching quickly and Halloween slowly making its way to us again, people like myself are excited to binge watch all the scary movies and Halloween specials on TV. Thankfully, subscribers will be delighted when they hear that Netflix has dropped a “Netflix and Chills” category to get us through the spooky season. All treats and no tricks!
“Netflix and Chills” has a broad collection of horror genre content, including seasons of ‘Slasher’, ‘American Horror Story’, ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ and more under the television subcategory as well as ‘Scream’, ‘Carrie (1976)’, ‘American Psycho’, ‘The Heretics’ and many others in the film section. For those people who are more into horror comedies such as ‘Scary Movie 2′ and ‘Gremlins,’ those options are also available so you can laugh through the horror.
As Halloween draws near, Netflix will be debuting new horror content as well. Netflix gave fans a preview of what’s to come to the streaming service including Stephen King and Joe Hill’s ‘In the Tall Grass’ as well as ‘In the Shadow of the Moon’, ‘Fractured’, ‘Eli’, and ‘Rattlesnake.’
‘In the Shadow of the Moon’ will premiere on September 27th. The film is set in 1988 and follows “a police officer hungry to become a detective and begins tracking a serial killer who resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer’s crimes defy all scientific explanation, the officer’s obsession threatens to destroy everything.” Michael C. Hall and Boyd Holbrook star in this thriller.
Patrick Wilson, Harrison Gilbertson, Laysla De Oliveira, Rachel Wilson, and Will Buie Jr. will star in ‘In the Tall Grass’ a tale based on the novella by King and Hill about “siblings Becky and Cal who hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass and venture in to rescue him, only to become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them.” The movie drops on October 4th.
Debuting on October 11th, ‘Fractured’, starring Sam Worthington, Lily Rabe, and Stephen Tobolowsky, follows the story of a man driving home with his wife and daughter after a tense holiday weekend. The trip results in him searching for his wife and daughter after his daughter is rushed to a nearby emergency room run by a suspicious staff and they vanish without a trace.
‘Eli’ is the story about a boy plagued with an unknown, debilitating illness that requires him to live in a bubble. His parents, after exhausting all efforts, place him in the hands of a doctor whose experimental, cutting edge treatments at her clean house facility may hold Eli’s last hope. Throughout the intense process, Eli begins to be haunted by experiences make him question who to trust. Kelly Reilly, Sadie Sink, Max Martini, Charlie Shotwell, and Lili Taylor star in this film that debuts on October 18th.
Starring Carmen Ejogo, Theo Rossi, and Emma Greenwell, ‘Rattlesnake’ is a film about a woman who must wrestle with her morality and saving her daughter’s life after she is bitten by a poison rattlesnake. ‘Rattlesnake’ premieres on October 25th.
