Zombieland: Double Tap
Columbia Pictures

‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ introduces a few new survivors of the zombie apocalypse– Rosario Dawson as Nevada (… that’s not a city), Zoey Deutch as Madison, Avan Jogia as Berkley, Thomas Middleditch as Flagstaff, and Luke Wilson as Albuquerque.  A new video clip gives a glimpse at the new actors and their character, and how they fit into the established “family” from the first movie– Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), and Wichita (Emma Stone).

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, director Ruben Fleischer said:

“We kind of called them ‘doppelgängers.  Actually, I’m going to leave that to the audience who goes to the movie. I don’t want to spoil it too much. I’ll just say it’s perhaps one of my favorite parts of the whole film. You’re gonna have to go see the movie to see what’s going on.”

Ten years have passed since the original cult classic was released.  Though it wasn’t a huge success at the box office, the first ‘Zombieland’ gained a huge number of fans after it was released on DVD, which led to this sequel which will be released almost ten years to the day after the first.

Check out the new video below to get a sense of how these new characters fit into the overall story:

One highlight from the first movie was the extended cameo by Bill Murray as himself.  Even though he died after a prank gone wrong, the actor is coming back for another appearance in ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’, and he’s reported to be bringing his ‘Ghostbusters’ co-star Dan Aykroyd with him.  We’ll have to wait and see how they fit into this new story.

Fleischer stated:

“We find our heroes from the last movie ten years later, as they’re just moving into the White House.  Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) has a saying, ‘Go big, or go home.’ They kind of took it to heart and went for kind of the biggest and best home they could find… In the 10 years since the first movie, zombies have evolved into different types of zombies.  The one that’s causing the big threat are the T-800 zombies, that are stronger, faster, harder to kill.”

The most humorous bit in the video was when Abigail Breslin revealed that Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson didn’t know who she was when she showed up on the set.  Little Miss Sunshine is all grown up!

Stock up on Twinkies, because ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ arrives on October 11, 2018.
