The Mandalorian
THE MANDALORIAN: Gina Carana as Cara Dune and Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian

At this time, Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed that it will order a second season of ‘The Mandalorian‘ for Disney+ but showrunner Jon Favreau is already pushing forward on developing it. Not only that, but he has also confirmed that he will be sitting in the director’s chair for at least an episode if the series does go into production for a sophomore outing! Ratings or poor performance of Disney+ or the series could always put another season in peril, but it feels unlikely that they aren’t going to pursue expanding the franchise with everything else that Disney has announced for their streaming platform. I mean, let’s be honest, it is said that they’ve already picked up Julia Jones to join the series after shooting was completed on the first season so they’re banking on it happening.

While details aren’t locked in yet, the creator did share that:

“We’re working on season 2, writing, prepping with the directors and getting ready to direct myself, actually. I didn’t get a chance the last time around because I was doing Lion King. So I’ll step in for one of them.”

We’re already thrilled that previously animated, or Legends characters may appear, and the idea that their stories could continue in live-action past this outing is an exciting one!

Are you looking forward to checking out ‘The Mandalorian’ on Disney+? From the first trailers for the series are you hopeful that it will soon be picked up for a second season? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

‘The Mandalorian’ will be available when Disney+ launches on November 12th, 2019.
