Disney+ Wants Matt Shakman To Direct One Of Their Marvel Studios Shows

While no contracts have been signed, it sounds as if Matt Shakman (‘Game of Thrones’,’It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’) is currently in talks to direct one of the 6-episode Marvel Studios shows coming to Disney+. It is important to note that it is a series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know that Marvel TV also has a few unannounced shows in the works which we should be learning about soon. With this being Marvel Studios, it narrows the playing field to which options are available as the specific series he is in talks to direct hasn’t been revealed.

The top two contenders for the director would likely be ‘Loki‘ and ‘WandaVision‘ which are both in pre-production. ‘Wandavision’ is set to start filming in the upcoming weeks which would make you think it already has a director attached while ‘Loki’ is slated to begin filming in January. Also on the docket from the studio is ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ ‘What If…?’, and ‘Hawkeye.’ There is also a chance this could be for a series which hasn’t been revealed to the public, but one would suspect they have enough on their plate at the moment.

With ‘WandaVision’ right around the corner, that isn’t the only reason it feels like ‘Loki’ would be a good fit for the director. His work on ‘Game of Thrones’ feels as if it would have prepared him to work with Marvel Studios while dealing with a God and with ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ while over the top, has the right type of humor which could mesh well with the God of Mischief.
