Alan Tudyk K-2SO 'Rogue One Prequel Series

Well, to be fair, this is far from anything definitive on the subject, but based on recent words from star Alan Tudyk, who did the motion capture and voice-work for droid K-2SO in ‘Rogue One,’ there is a chance he may be reprising the role in the near future. Of course, I’m speaking about the upcoming ‘Rogue One’ prequel series starring Diego Luna, which would be the only real place K-2So would be able to pop up since he (and basically every other major cast member) died at the end of ‘Rogue One.’ The rumor mill started when, while speaking to Comicbook.com, Tudyk said:

“It’s a prequel, so it is a prequel. I love those guys, I do. I love those guys. Diego Luna is one of my favorite people on the planet. I know what they’re doing, and it’s very exciting. We talked about it.”

So many people are reading “We talked about it” to mean Tudyk is most likely coming back, but clearly, that is a bit of a stretch. However, Disney, Lucasfilm, and Tudyk are all aware of how much the fans enjoyed the robot in ‘Rogue One,’ and putting him in the prequel series alongside Cassian Andor would make a lot of sense considering their relationship in the movie. For now, though, all we know for certain is that Diego Luna will be reprising his role as Cassian, which is already enough for fans to be pretty happy about.

When the show was first announced, Diego Luna expressed a lot of excitement for returning to the character and the world of ‘Star Wars’ with the following statement:

“Going back to the ‘Star Wars’ universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

What are your thoughts on K-2SO showing up in the ‘Rogue One’ prequel series? Do you think Tudyk was dropping hints with that statement? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
