Nicholas Hoult Tolkien

We’ve been waiting for the ‘Tolkien‘ biopic for years and at long last a trailer has finally been released! Recently we’ve gotten a good look at Nicholas Hoult as J.R.R. Tolkien and now you can see how the story of his life has been pieced together.

While many fans are aware that Tolkien’s life experiences with his friends and fighting in World War I helped shape ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ this biopic is set to really share how many of these aspects were direct correlations to one another.

Many of the visuals here really demonstrate some of the more commonly known inspirations for Tolkien. We see Lily Collins as Edith, the love of Tolkien’s life dancing in a forest as Luthien did in ‘The Silmarillion.’ The trenches of World War I represent Mordor and the various battles throughout the series. Not only that, but basic concepts of his epic works saying that the story is “about journeys,” “about fellowship,” and “magic beyond anything anyone has ever felt before” is clearly spelled out to audiences.

I suspect that this is one biopic that fans of the author or going to want to make a point to see.

Will you be checking out ‘Tolkien’ when it is released later this year? Do you plan on seeing it on the big screen or will you wait until it is available as a home release? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love
and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into
the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “Fellowship” apart. All of these
experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-earth novels.

‘Tolkien’ will be in theaters on May 10th, 2019
