Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Fans of the 2015 comic-book cross-over event between DC Comics and IDW are going to be very excited as Warner Brothers Animated has announced a new movie titled ‘Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ that will pit the Dark Knight against the Ninja Turtles once again. The movie is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment as most of the DC animated projects have been, but this time around, due to the inclusion of the Turtles, Nickelodeon is being brought into the mix as well as they are currently airing the latest iteration of the beloved franchise, ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.’

Similar to the cross-over event in the comics, rumor has it that the movie will pit Batman and a few of his allies against the Ninja Turtles, before (as usually happens in these situations) they realize they should join forces to meet the true enemy, or in this case enemies, which will be a number of Batman’s rogues gallery. Confirmed information that has been released about the film includes the voice cast, which has Troy Baker in the unique (and unprecedented) role of both Batman and the Joker,  Darren Criss as Raphael, Kyle Mooney as Michelangelo, Baron Vaughn as Donatello, Eric Bauza as Leonardo, Rachel Bloom as Batgirl, Tom Kenny as the Penguin, John DiMaggio as Mr. Freeze, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Carlos Alazraqui as strong-man Bane, and Cas Anvar as Batman’s oldest nemesis, Ra’s al Ghul.

The film is expected to be released sometime this spring (most likely LATE spring), and as usual for a DC animated film, it will go straight to Blu-Ray and Digital. While it may seem like a “shameless” crossover event (as animated crossovers have been called in the past), this could be a lot of fun, especially the pairing of the stoic Batman with the more excitable turtles, with them all having in common knowledge of martial arts (Ninja training in particular) and a desire to fight criminals.

What are your thoughts on the crossover? Will you be watching once it is released? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
