Quicksilver

Half the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are gone but not forgotten, and it remains to be seen how the Russo Brothers manage to resurrect the likes of Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Nick Fury, Spider-Man, and nearly all of the Guardians of the Galaxy in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.  But while most expect the victims who got dusted as a result of Thanos’ Infinity Stone-powered finger snap to return, fans have also accepted that anyone who died before that, like Loki and Gamora are probably gone for good.  But one fan is hoping that Marvel will take advantage of the chaos of ‘Endgame’ to resurrect a character that has been dead for a lot longer– Quicksilver.

Fan Brodie Marschall has started a Change.org petition to get Disney and Marvel Studios to use whatever McGuffin they utilize to resurrect the ‘Infinity War’ casualties to also restore Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver, who was introduced and killed of in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.  (Okay, well, technically, he briefly debuted in the post-credits scene in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’.)  In ‘Age of Ultron’, the story teased that Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) would actually be killed in the line of duty before Quicksilver sacrificed himself instead.  According to ‘Age of Ultron’ director Joss Whedon, this decision was handed down to him by Disney.

As of this writing, over 100 people have signed the petition.  Not only does Marschall suggest bringing back Quicksilver, but restoring him at the time of his death, and tasking Marvel Studios with recutting its past movies to include him.

If future MCU films bring him back through time travel, they would re-release Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 to have Quicksilver inserted into those films.

These special releases would be similar to the original releases, but have all new  scenes featuring Aaron-Taylor Johnson as Quicksilver. This would help fulfil his original contract with Marvel because he actually had more than one film when he signed on to play the character.

Yeah, that’s not gonna happen.

It’s true that Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver basically amounted to jack squat in ‘Age of Ultron’, so it might be nice for the actor to get to do more with the character (or heck, even get an action figure!).  But I think most fans are looking forward rather than backward.  No one really wants ‘Civil War’ and the other movies recut for any reason, much less just to add Taylor-Johnson.  I mean, yeah, he’s nice to look at, but there are already a ton of Marvel superheroes with even more on the way.  Would it really make a difference to resurrect a character that didn’t add much (if anything) the first time around?  (And just so we’re clear, Quicksilver is nowhere near as fast as The Flash and cannot travel through time with his speed powers, so he isn’t the key to resurrecting characters in ‘Endgame’.)

But if you disagree and want to help Marschall encourage Disney to restore Quicksilver to the MCU, head over and sign his petition!
