Get Your First Look At Beetlejuice: The Musical!

Everyone’s favorite ghost with the most is heading to the Great White Way! ‘Beetlejuice: The Musical!’ is heading to the Winter Garden Theatre in March, with the official opening set to follow on April 25. While tickets have already gone on sale, many have been wondering how the movie will translate to the stage. Well, wonder no more! A trailer for the musical has been released.

Director Alex Timbers has spoken about Beetlejuice in the stage version and how he differs from Michael Keaton’s version of the character, saying:

“[Alex Brightman’s Beetlejuice] is definitely not a Michael Keaton impression. It’s his own.”

Timbers also mentioned that while the musical is designed to stand on its own, it will pay homage to the original film, saying:

“There are Easter eggs from the film, and what I want to do is pass the sniff test for fans, but I want it to feel like its own surprising, exciting piece of theater.”

‘Beetlejuice: The Musical!’ is directed by Timbers, features a score by Eddie Perfect, book by Scott Brown & Anthony King and choreography by Connor Gallagher. Brightmann starred as Beetlejuice in the pre-Broadway engagement along with Sophia Anne Caruso as Lydia Deetz.

Beetlejuice tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” When Lydia calls on a degenerate demon to scare away her insufferable parents, Beetlejuice comes up with a plan involving exorcism, arranged marriages and an adorable girl scout who gets scared out of her wits.
