Exclusive: Watch The Trailer For Sci-Fi Short Film Phoenix Run

In an infected world full of superheroes and villains, who can you turn to for safety?  That’s the question asked in ‘Phoenix Run,’ a new short film due to debut on DUST on January 10th – and we have the exclusive look at the trailer for you!

First, the “official” synopsis of the tale, from the filmmakers themselves:

Taking place in a dystopian future where everyone is infected with a deadly nano-virus, street-smart smuggler Marky is on the run from a crooked superhero and his infected henchmen. Marky flees to the only family he’s ever known, former superhero Ma Jones, AKA Thunder.

‘Phoenix Run’ was created by TJ Walker, a Seattle-based self-taught filmmaker.  The core of the tale told in ‘Phoenix Run,’ that of a mother and her adopted children, is borne from Walker’s real-life experiences: he and his mother own and operate a home for at-risk youth.  In fact, many of the youth at the home worked on the film in various capacities – Walker made sure to let us know that the kids, like the rest of the film crew, were paid regular wages for their time and commitment, in the hopes that this experience will allow them to build on a potential career in the future.

The short film is intended as a launching point for a future web series.  It stars Conner Marx (‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘NCIS’), Julianne Christy (‘Lucifer’), John Paulsen (‘Twin Peaks’), and is directed by Rick Walters and TJ Walker.  ‘Phoenix Run’ has won several awards at various film festivals across the country and is set to make its premiere on DUST on Thursday, January 10th.
