The scripts released from HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones‘ have revealed all kinds of fun nuggets from the series and has even clarified a key scene we saw back in Season 2! In the House of the Undying, Daenerys experienced a vision of King’s Landing where she walked through the throne room and saw the Iron Throne in King’s Landing. The area looked to be decimated, and it was always unclear as to if Winter had fallen upon the capital or if ash was reigning down after Dany’s dragons had been unleashed upon Westeros.
George R.R. Martin didn’t include this vision in the novels so it was created just for the series. Now, the scripts have clarified what she witnessed:
She looks up. The roof is missing, and snow falls from the sky. [. . .] At the far end of the room, the Iron Throne waits for her, dusted with snow. Her dream made manifest.
While it could be easy to imagine that this could represent Jon Snow sitting upon the throne, it is far more likely to be that Winter has come to Westeros. However, that wouldn’t be the only thing which has destroyed the Red Keep, and the Great Hall was most likely wrecked in battle. However, it is still unclear if this is a battle between Cersei and Dany with a machine being pit against a dragon or if it is from an attack by the White Walkers. Perhaps even a combination of the two with Dany’s dragon vs. the undead one which now fights for The Night King.
Did you feel that Dany had seen snow or ash falling upon the Iron Throne in her vision? Is this meant to show actual snow or represent Jon? Will we see this scene actually play out in the final episode of ‘Game of Thrones’? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
