Polly Walker has joined the cast of EPIX’s series ‘Pennyworth’ as a recurring character named Peggy Sykes.  This series focuses on the younger days of Alfred Pennyworth, a former member of the British SAS, who is in the process of forming his own security company.  Of course, as most know, Alfred would later go on to serve as the butler to the Wayne family and the caretaker of Bruce Wayne, after his parents’ deaths.  He would oversee Bruce’s growth as he eventually assumes the role of Batman.  ‘Pennyworth’ was created by Bruno Heller who is producing along with Danny Cannon.  It will be set in 1960s London.

Walker’s character, Peggy Sykes is the sister of Paloma Faith‘s Bet Sykes, who is a villain in the story.  Peggy is described as “one of Lancashire’s busiest and most successful dominatrixes. The sensible matriarch in a family of maniacs, Peggy is fiercely loyal, endlessly resourceful and lives by her own strange but rigorous moral code.”  Bet is expected to be the show’s main villain, so presumably, Peggy will play a role in her machinations.

Jack Bannon stars as Alfred, with Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne.  Jason Flemyng is playing another baddie, Lord Harwood, while Melissa Knatchbull will portray Lady Harwood.  Alfred and Thomas Wayne will be assisted by two of Alfred’s old SAS buddies, Davy Boy, played by Ryan Fletcher, and Bazza, played by Hainsley Lloyd Bennett.

Walker is a British actor, who was most recently seen in the series ‘Age Before Beauty’.  Among other recent projects have been ‘Paranoid’, ‘Line of Duty’, ‘The Syndicate’, ‘Mr. Selfridge’ and ‘Warehouse 13‘.  She has also appeared in the movies ‘John Carter’, ‘Clash of the Titans’, and ‘Emma’.

‘Pennyworth’ is expected to arrive on EPIX in 2019.
