Everyone’s favorite Autobot has been without a voice in the live-action “Transformers” movies so far, but all of that will be changing in ‘Bumblebee.’ This spinoff prequel which puts one of the most iconic Robots in Disguise front and center may or may not reveal why Bumblebee loses his voice, but we have learned that he will have one in this film. On top of that, it has been revealed that Dylan O’Brien (‘Maze Runner’,’Teen Wolf’) is the actor who voices this classic character in the upcoming movi

The details came straight from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura who spoke as to why Bumblebee needed to finally be able to speak in a live-action movie:

“Since we were approaching this as an origin story, we felt that it was appropriate that you got to hear his voice. That’s the simple logic that we employed. The longer term implication of that is different. But the short-term implication of that is, since we really are resetting the mythology, essentially, of who Bumblebee is. And so, that seemed to us to be the appropriate, to get the chance to hear what he sounds like.”

Not only that, but the producer was open as to the casting details as well and why specifically they had tapped O’Brien to tackle the part:

“Dylan has that great quality in his voice of youthful exuberance, and also sort of trustworthiness. I think those are the two qualities that we wanted Bumblebee to have.
Thankfully, we’ve showed it to a few audiences, and people seem to think that it’d be right and an appropriate voice. You never know, obviously that can be a sensitive thing for people. But it turns out; they imagine his voice that way.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to finally having Bumblebee able to talk again. With this being a visual callback to the 80s cartoons, I’m glad that they seem to be taking some of the characterizations in that direction as well.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
