Nick Nolte has been added to the cast of the upcoming Disney+ streaming series ‘The Mandalorian’, which is expected to launch next fall. Pedro Pascal (‘Wonder Woman 1984′) stars as the series’ lead, a bounty hunter from the same home planet as popular characters Boba Fett and Jango Fett. Gina Carano (‘Deadpool’) is also confirmed as a member of the cast, but of course, her role is being kept secret. Carl Weathers was reportedly up for a role, but that has not yet been confirmed.
The same is true of Nolte’s role. Reportedly, because of the fact that this series, created by ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Jungle Book”s Jon Favreau, is so heavy on special effects and makeup, actors will be cast much later into the production than on the average TV series. It also allows some to come and go as their schedules demand. The show has already been in production for weeks now.
Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow are directing episodes of ‘The Mandalorian’, with Filoni also serving as executive producer along with Favreau (who also reportedly wrote the entire series), Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson.
‘The Mandalorian’ takes place between the events of ‘Return of the Jedi’ and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. ‘The Mandalorian’ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Nolte is, of course, a Hollywood legend, having starred in pictures like ‘North Dallas Forty’, ’48 hrs’, ‘Down and Out in Beverly Hills’, ‘Cape Fear’, ‘Mulholland Falls’, ‘The Thin Red Line’, and ‘Gangster Squad’. He has been nominated for an Academy Award three times, for ‘The Prince of Tides’, ‘Affliction’ and ‘Warrior’. Last year, he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
