Syfy's Spides Attracts A Talented Cast

Syfy is upping the ante with their casting of the upcoming alien invasion drama titled ‘Spides.’ The production has just added Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (‘Game of Thrones’), Falk Hentschel (‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D’), Désirée Nosbusch (‘Bad Banks’) and Florence Kasumba (‘Black Panther’) to the cast in major roles. These actors will be joining Damian Hardung (‘Name Of The Rose’), Susanne Wuest (‘Perfume’), Aleksandar Jovanovic (‘Dr. Who’), Branko Tomovic (‘Homeland’), Kimberly Leemans (‘The Walking Dead’) who are already attached to the series.

Here’s what we know about the series so far:

This eight-part series was written by Rainer Matsutani, Eckhard Vollmar, Peter Hume, Carola Lowitz, and Mark Wachholz. Also behind-the-scenes we’ll see Katapult Filmproduktion and Red Sun Films in co-operation with Palatin Media producing the show. Nevision, Aventin Film, and Baby Giant Hollyberg are also co-producing the series which is currently being shot in Berlin. While Syfy will be airing the show globally, it will also launch on the NBC Universal International Networks channel in the UK, France, Iberia, Germany, Latin America, Poland, Romania, Balkans, Middle East, Africa, Australia and Brazil in late 2019.

Speaking about the show, Steve Patscheck, EVP International Programming, NBCUniversal International Networks shared:

“As a science fiction thriller with a twist, Spides will be anything but alien to our Syfy channels around the world. We place fans of the sci-fi genre at the centre of everything we do, including acquiring and curating a compelling range of programming that resonates with viewers from every corner of the globe.”

While CEO of Palatin Media and Executive Producer Bernd Schlötterer added:

“We have been extremely lucky to ensemble such an excellent team both in front of and behind the camera with such a stellar cast including Rosabell, Falk, Florence, Damian, and Désirée to name just a few.”

There aren’t as many alien dramas as there could be these days so to see a shorter series popping up with some great talent behind it makes this look like we’re in for a real treat. Syfy has been trying to step up their game in recent years and has been releasing more quality to balance out some of the B-movie level shows and films which they had become known for, and this looks like another step in that direction.
