Neil Marshall Shares His Tone For Hellboy And A New Image!

The closer we get to the release of the new ‘Hellboy‘ reboot the more news we’re finding out. Last we had heard it was Thomas Haden Church joining the cast as Lobster Johnson and this time we’re getting a focus on the tone for the film itself. The description is being provided directly by director Neil Marshall, and with it, he has also shared a photo of Big Red himself. Previous artwork has shown off a few preview images of David Harbour as the character and even teased that The Beast of the Apocalypse will be “Legendary AF” and this new shot seems to deliver on that promise.

As to the film itself? Marshall is describing it as a full-on tribute to series creator Mike Mignola‘s work:

“It was always a case of, ‘When in doubt, go back to the source material.’ Some of the stuff is pretty sick. More violent and more bloody. We weren’t making it with handcuffs on.”

This little nugget was shared with an upcoming interview with the director and likely more details for the film in the January 2019 issue of “Empire” which will probably reveal even more when it is released. Personally, I’m just thrilled that the plan is to stick as close to the source material as possible. Mike Mignola crafted a creepy world years ago and so many of the stories in it have yet to be told.

What do you think of the latest shot of David Harbour as ‘Hellboy’? Do you feel that we’re in for a real treat when this new film kicks off? Could it be the beginning of a franchise of movies set in the Mignolaverse? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

‘Hellboy’ will rise into your local theater on April 12th, 2019! It stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Thomas Haden Church.
