Alien: Covenant

While we last heard that Ridley Scott was planning on bringing more Xenomorphs to the table if the Alien franchise continues under his guiding hand, it’s now been revealed a sequel to ‘Alien: Covenant’ would throw the Engineers back into the mix.  While LV-426 isn’t called out by name directly, it does sound like that is where the film could be finally headed.

We know that John Logan had already penned a script for the sequel and now have learned a few details as to what ‘Alien: Awakening’ would have been about. The idea was that it would once again follow Michael Fassbender‘s David:

“Logan’s script would have seen the return of Prometheus’ Engineers, with that species’ survivors coming after the genocidal David. Setting-wise, Scott said it was obvious ‘We’re gonna actually go to the planet.’ by which we assume he means LV-426.”

It seems that the final movie in this trilogy would have given us not only the end of the Engineers but an answer to how the Xenomorphs ended up on LV-426 in the first place.

Of course, Scott’s plan has significantly changed over the years as some of the ideas that were supposed to be included in ‘Covenant’ where dropped, so if ‘Alien: Awakening’ ever does go into production, this may not be what ends up on the screen.

Would you love Scott to have one last crack at the ‘Alien’ franchise to bring his ideas full circle back to the original film or has he done more harm than good? Is it even possible to move forward without addressing the mess which he’s created so far? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
