‘A Discovery of Witches’, based on the books by Deborah Harkness, premiered on Sky One in the UK in September and earned an “enormous” audience– so large, in fact that Sky One has renewed it for not just one, but two additional seasons.  Soon, American fans will get a chance to experience the adaptation, when it arrives here in January.

Teresa Palmer stars as Diana Bishop, a historian and witch, who suppressed her powers after the deaths of her parents.  But when she comes into possession of the ancient book, ‘Ashmole 782’ she finds herself the target of supernatural beings who are seeking the tome, which contains secrets about witches, vampires, daemons and others mystical beings.  One of those looking to obtain ‘Ashmole 782’ is vampire Matthew de Clarimont portrayed by Matthew Goode.  But once he encounters Diana, he falls in love with her, they form a unit to protect the book from malicious forces,while unlocking the mysteries inside.

‘A Discovery of Witches’ also stars Edward Bluemel, Louise Brealey, Malin Buska, Lindsay Duncan, Trevor Eve, Aiysha Hart, Alex Kingston, Valarie Pettiford, and Owen Teale.
