Claudia Black

Roswell, New Mexico‘ is getting family friendly by casting Claudia Black (‘Haven’,’Farscape’) as the adoptive mother of Nathan Parsons’s Max and Lily Cowles’s Isobel. For many audiences, this will be an entirely new take on Black as they’ve likely seen her as the Mikaelsons’ Aunt Dahlia on ‘The Originals.’ Needless to say, she wasn’t the nicest of characters and here will have a completely different part to play in this new guest-starring role.

Black’s character is Ann Evans and is described as, “Polished and warm-hearted, Ann blames herself for not being able to connect with her children. Granted, she doesn’t realize that Max and Isobel and have been keeping a pretty massive secret from her all their lives. (Psst… They’re aliens!)”

It should be noted that Black previously worked with Parsons as well as executive producers Carina Adly MacKenzie and Julie Plec on ‘The Originals.’ On top of that, she also worked with Plec on ‘Containment.’

This reboot of ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ is said to have a political vibe that relates to immigration issues. In the leading roles, the series stars Jeanine Mason (‘Grey’s Anatomy’) as Liz Ortecho and Nathan Parsons (‘The Originals’) as Max, a police officer in the city that they grew up in. Ortecho returns to Roswell where she grew up as the daughter of two illegal immigrants and Max is an illegal alien himself.

Only, he’s from space and not just another country.

Joining these two on the cast are Lily Cowles (‘BrainDead) as Isobel’, a fellow alien masquerading as a human; Michael Vlamis (‘New Girl’) as Michael, an alien desperate to leave this planet; Tyler Blackburn (‘Pretty Little Liars’) as Alex Manes, a military vet whose father’s expectations threaten his future with the man he loves; Michael Trevino (‘The Vampire Diaries’) as Kyle, whose father is the town sheriff; Heather Hemmens (‘Hellcats’) as Liz’s best friend Maria; and Karan Oberoi (‘Counterpart’) as Isobel’s husband Noah.
