Genre fans will be thrilled as the cast for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong‘ keeps growing! This time they’ve added the Emmy-winning Alexander Skarsgård (‘True Blood,’ ‘The Legend of Tarzan’) to the roster! As with most of the casting for the film at this time, we have no idea who this talented actor is slated to play quite yet. What we do know is that he’ll be joining the likes of Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, and Demian Bichir. Back in July Danai Gurira was also in talks to join the production though we haven’t heard confirmation on her status one way or the other since that time. Director Adam Wingard is going to have high expectations when he films the fourth movie in this giant-sized creature feature cinematic universe.
With ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ slated to be released on May 31st, 2019 it won’t be long until we get to see the third outing in this franchise and see how Brown’s character, Madison Russell, factors into the series and how that might lead into the big crossover fight which we’ve been waiting to see.
We don’t know exactly what the film will be about but Wingard has previously stated that he wants audiences to be teary-eyed at the end of the movie and that:
“Ours is more in continuity with the sequel to Godzilla right now. They’re doing Godzilla 2 with Mike Dougherty directing, so our film is in present day. We have a couple characters from Godzilla 2 in ours, but it’ll be interesting to see how Kong has fared over the years. You see him in that film, and he’s just constantly under attack. Things are going wrong, and there’s probably been lots of human intervention since then. It’ll be interesting to see a more rugged, a bit more aged Kong in this film.”
With so much of a focus being on these two Titans, it is hard to imagine how important of a part the actors themselves can have in the movie.
Are you thrilled to hear that Alexander Skarsgård will appear in ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’? What kind of a role do you think the actor will have in the film? Is he going to be a significant character or have more of a background part? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ will be tearing up your local theater on May 22nd, 2020!
