The newest season of ‘Doctor Who’ has already seen the Doctor facing some very real, and very emotional situations. The most recent episode, ‘Rosa,’ offered some educational seriousness, slightly deviating from the lightheartedness of earlier seasons.
Thanks to a recently released clip, we know that the next episode of ‘Doctor Who’ will revisit something the show has become known for, the monsters! ‘Arachnids in the UK’ will bring giant spiders and will bring new companions Ryan, Yaz, and Graham back to their hometown of Sheffield. Their homecoming could mean the end of their travels with the Doctor, which is not okay with her!
Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor is building her persona around being earnest and optimistic, with a need to take in anything and everything around her. The clip gives us a glimpse of a much sadder Doctor, as she realizes she could be saying goodbye to her new best friends.
Recognizing the Doctor’s sadness, Yaz does the only thing she can think of…offer tea! The offer immediately lifts the Time Lord’s spirits proving that tea is good for the soul, and both hearts!
‘Arachnids in the UK’ was written by Chris Chibnall, directed by Sallie Aprahamian, and guest stars Chris Noth and Shobna Gulati. Here is an official synopsis for the episode:
“Something’s happening with the spiders in this city.” The Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan find their way back to Yorkshire – and Yaz’s family – only to find something is stirring amidst the eight-legged arachnid population of Sheffield.
