Kirk Acevedo

Hope ‘Arrow’ fans are ready to see more of Ricardo Diaz, a.k.a. drug kingpin The Dragon.  Kirk Acevedo has been elevated to series regular for the seventh season.  Season 6 culminated with Team Arrow raiding Diaz’s base, but the villain slipped away at the end.  It appears he won’t be gone for long.

Last season, two regulars, Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance) and Willa Holland (Thea Queen) departed the series.  Lance was killed in the season finale while Thea left earlier to track down the rest of the Lazarus Pits.  Thea was accompanied by Roy Harper, played by Colton Haynes, but it appears that Roy will be back for Season 6, so Thea’s whereabouts are unknown for now.

The returning cast includes Stephen Amell, as Oliver/Green Arrow, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, David Ramset as Diggle/Spartan, Echo Kellum as Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific, Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake/Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Siren, and Rick Gonzales as René Ramirez/Wild Dog.

As part of a deal with the FBI, Oliver revealed his secret identity and was taken into custody.  We already know that the first few episodes of the new season will find Oliver behind bars of a SuperMax prison, surrounded by the criminals he put there.  Among those confirmed to be returning are Michael Jai White as Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger, Cody Runnels as Derek Sampson, and Vinnie Jones as Danny Brickwell/Brick.

Outside the prison, Star City will be plagued by the arrival of three new villains, the Longbow Hunters.  These assassins are recruited by Diaz and include Red Dart (played by Holly Elissa), Silencer (Miranda Edwards) and Kodiak (Michael Jonsson).

But they won’t be unopposed as a new Green Arrow rises to defend Star City.  It’s unknown who this figure is, but fans are speculating that it could be Diggle– even though he just took on a higher position at ARGUS– or Roy– although that would be kind of obvious.

‘Shadowhunters’ Katherine McNamara is also joining the series as a new character named Maya, but her nature is unknown.

‘Arrow’ returns in its new day and time, Monday, October 15, at 8pm EST.
