Lobo

One of Superman’s most entertaining villains is coming to Syfy’s ‘Krypton’! Emmett J. Scanlan (‘Hollyoaks’,’Guardians of the Galaxy’) has been tapped to play Lobo in the second season for the series. We’re not sure if he’ll be quite as violent as his comic book counterpart who is an intergalactic bounty hunter who murdered his entire species. With how dark the show has hinted at being willing to go, it wouldn’t surprise me if this fact was at least mentioned if not shown on screen.

Along with the announcement that Scanlan will be playing the role, Syfy has also released a first look at his character:

Lobo isn’t just ruthless but is nearly immortal with superhuman strength. If that wasn’t bad enough, you can’t just write him off as a super-powered sociopath as he also is a genius when it comes to warfare. His twisted sense of morality does have one thing going for him though as Lobo holds his word as sacred so if you can get him to agree to something, will honor it to the letter. However, don’t expect him to hold to the spirit of any agreement, just directly what has been agreed to.

We’ve heard rumors for years that a possible ‘Lobo’ film was in the works and even recently that Michael Bay might be attached to bringing the character to the big screen. Warner Bros. has long had a history of not wanting to allow their cinematic characters to also be on the small screen so this casting can’t help but make you wonder if this is a new direction for the DC franchise which increasingly allows multiple iterations of their characters to appear in live-action production or if the movie has been scrubbed or shelved indefinitely as so many of their feature films have been in recent years.

Are you excited to finally see a live-action take of Lobo? Do you think that Emmett J. Scanlan will be the perfect actor to play the part? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
