Game Of Thrones

Vacation is coming! At least for those ‘Game of Thrones‘ fans who can afford it and want to take tours of Winterfell, Castle Black, Kings Landing and more! HBO is following in Disney’s footsteps by getting into the attraction game as they’re branching out in Northern Ireland for those who want to see these iconic locations in real life. The tours are set to begin in 2019 and likely will be just in time for the final season to air.

Outside of the three key locations above, the network is also working out an official tour of Linen Mill Studios which will show off material which was used throughout every season of the smash hit. Between the Touring Exhibition and the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience, the addition of this attraction might be the one which most resonates with fans.

According to HBO, the attractions will be “on a scale and scope bigger than anything the public has ever seen.” Being able to walk the same paths which we’ve seen the Starks, Targaryens, Lannister, and the rest of the noble houses have walked on the series will be just that.

At each of the locations, there will also be sets and props from the series such as costumes, weapons, art files, models, and more! They also plan on having interactive content that will show how the VFX from the series was created. While “the night is dark and full of terrors” one can expect that these attractions will be well lit and full of fans trying to recreate their favorite scenes.

HBO’s VP of licensing and retail Jeff Peters shared that:

“HBO is thrilled to celebrate the work of the ‘Game of Thrones’ creative team and crew by preserving these locations and inviting fans to visit Northern Ireland and explore Westeros in person. The opportunity to celebrate Northern Ireland’s pivotal role in the life and legacy of the show and share its culture, beauty, and warmth is also a huge inspiration behind these Legacy projects.”

John McGrillen, CEO of Tourism NI has added that:

“While [‘Game of Thrones’] fans have seen the stunning landscapes, coastlines, and mountains in the series, we are thrilled they will now have the opportunity to fully experience the charm of Northern Ireland and immerse themselves into the world of Westeros.”

While showcasing Ireland’s culture will be a plus, we all know that fans are mostly going to be swarming the area to get their own taste of Westeros. So if you are one of those lucky enough to be able to afford the trip do be kind and hold the door for one another, or you might just end up like Joffrey Lannister Baratheon or Ramsay Bolton.

Are you thrilled that you’ll soon be able to visit some of the most iconic sets from ‘Game of Thrones’? Which of the locations would you be most interested in checking out? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
