Simpson

Maybe now people will stop mispronouncing Gal Gadot‘s name.  (It’s Ga-DOT, not Ga-DOE.  She’s Israeli not French.)

The star of ‘Wonder Woman’ is getting one of the highest honors in pop culture– a guest appearance on ‘The Simpsons’.  But considering that ‘The Simpsons’ is (among other things) a satire of mainstream culture, don’t expect Gadot to escape without some roasting, and in this case, she takes the blow targeted at the larger DC Universe of films.

In this clip from the 30th (!!!) season premiere of ‘The Simpsons,’ Gadot is auditioning to play Lisa Simpson in a potential movie.  In the episode, a group of Christian movie producers offers Homer a movie deal, which explains why Homer is teamed with his uber-religious neighbor Ned Flanders with whom Homer normally has an antagonistic relationship.

In the clip, Flanders is easily impressed with Gadot’s audition, but Homer is skeptical as he only knows her from the ‘Fast & Furious’ movies.  When Gadot states that she starred in ‘Wonder Woman’… well, here comes the shade.  Check this clip out below:

“Whenever I see the DC logo, I immediately fall asleep,” Homer deadpans.  Now some could see this as corporate shade, considering that FOX and its parent company 21st Century Fox were recently bought by Disney, who owns Marvel, but I don’t think ‘The Simpsons’ pulls its punches based on red tape.  If something needs to be knocked down a few pegs, this show and its writers will do it, regardless of the source.

In February, Gadot announced her guest appearance on the show via Twitter, stating “I grew up watching the Simpsons and now I get to voice myself in an episode.  Stay tuned.”

Gadot is then seen signing a “wall of fame,” which presumably includes the signatures of other celebrities that have lent their vocal cords to ‘The Simpsons’.

‘The Simpsons’ 30th season premiere is, suitably, this weekend on September 30 on FOX.
