American Horror Story: Apocalypse

The full trailer for ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ has dropped, and it is bleak! Featuring many familiar faces from the annals of the FX horror anthology, the trailer sheds light on the ‘Murder House’-‘Coven’ crossover that will be featured in Season 8.

The trailer shows how the end of the world theme will fit into the story, while some characters declare that the end is near. A voiceover is heard in the trailer saying:

“No need for the rules anymore: The chaos has won.”

The trailer is chock full of dystopian images and highlights some returning characters from ‘Murder House’ and ‘Coven.’ The trailer also reveals that Sarah Paulson’s new ‘Apocalypse’ character, Venable, is the leader of a new and sadistic underground world. Venable can be seen telling the members of her clan, “Outpost 3,” that radiation contamination is keeping them inside. She also makes it clear that rule breaking is not tolerated and will be punished. She tells Kathy Bates’ character Mrs. Meade:

“Strangely satisfying, isn’t it? Dispensing punishment. It’s our world now, to re-mold as we see fit.”

The trailer also features the return of our favorite ‘Coven’ witches Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts) and Myrtle Snow (Frances Conroy) as they arrive in the outpost with Supreme witch Cordelia Foxx, who is also played by Paulson. New characters played by Billy Eichner, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman and Joan Collins are also featured, as well as ‘Coven’ witch Misty Day (Lily Rabe).

The eighth season of ‘American Horror Story’ will serve as a crossover between ‘Murder House’ and ‘Coven,’ and creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that the AHS universe would get smaller with several returning characters.

Other confirmed returning cast members include Gabourey Sidibe, Stevie Nicks, Adina Porter and Cheyenne Jackson, along with newcomers Billy Porter, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Kyle Allen. A few of the actors will be playing multiple roles. Paulson herself will be playing three characters!

In addition to the trailer, the team behind ‘American Horror Story’ have started to drop hints about the upcoming season. Producer Alexis Martin Woodall had the following to say about the plot:

“The story begins with the end of the world. It starts in the real world. It’s very tangible, and it’s a familiar panic.”
