Taissa Farmiga

The Harmon Family will officially be reunited. We just learned that Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott were both coming back for ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ to reprise their roles as Vivien and Ben Harmon, a married couple on the rocks after Vivien suffered a miscarriage and Ben stepped out on her with one of his students.  Now baby makes three as Taissa Farmiga is confirmed to be reprising her role as their troubled daughter Violet.

Farmiga had already been confirmed to be returning as Zoe Benson, her witchy character from ‘Coven’, but since ‘Apocalypse’ is a crossover between ‘Murder House’ and ‘Coven’, it only makes sense that she will inhabit both characters.  We already knew that costar Sarah Paulson was also pulling double duty as Cordelia Foxx from ‘Coven’ and Billie Dean Howard from ‘Murder House’.  Actually, Paulson is pulling triple duty, as she is also playing a new character, Venable.

Jessica Lange is returning as her Season One character Constance Langdon, but it is not believed that she will reprise her role as Fiona Goode, the Supreme from ‘Coven’.  Cody Fern will play an adult version of Michael Langdon, who was a baby when last seen.  Michael is the son of Vivien (who died giving birth to him) and the ghost of Tate Langdon (Evan Peters), Constance’s son.  Michael is also believed to be the anti-Christ, so this season’s end of the world could be his doing.  Peters will be back and like Paulson, is playing a new character.  It hasn’t been verified whether or not he will also bring back Tate or Kyle, from ‘Coven’.

So far, those are the only ‘Murder House’ vets confirmed as returning for ‘Apocalypse’.  From ‘Coven’, we know that Kathy Bates is back in a new role, Ms. Meade, but could she also reprise her role as Delphine LaLaurie?  We can hope.  Emma Roberts will be back as witchy, bitchy Madison Montgomery along with Frances Conroy as Myrtle Snow, Lily Rabe as Misty Day, Gabourey Sidibe as Queenie and Stevie Nicks as herself.  Some of these characters are dead (ditto the ‘Murder House’ characters), so it remains to be seen how they will be brought back into the fold.  Angela Bassett was previously believed to not be returning, due to her commitment to the Ryan Murphy series ‘9-1-1’, but her costar on that show, Connie Britton is back for ‘AHS’ so there is now the sliver of a possibility that Bassett’s Marie Laveau may also show up.

The cast also includes new and returning stars Kyle Allen, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Joan Collins, Billy Eichner, Lesley Fera, Leslie Grossman, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter and Billy Porter.

‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ will premier on September 12, 2018.
