Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Don’t cross Salem!  August 8 was apparently International Cats Day and Netflix had the audacity to pay tribute to Fat Louie from ‘The Princess Diaries’ with the caption “There is one — and only one — legend we recognize on “.  That did not go over well with the official Twitter account for one of the streaming service’s most anticipated new shows of the fall, ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’.  The show’s Twitter account posted a new photo of Salem, the cursed warlock trapped in the body of a cat, from the show, with the response “the real legend, opurrrr.”

In the original ‘Sabrina’ comic books, Salem was a slightly cartoon-y, but otherwise ordinary cat.  But on the ABC sitcom, ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch’, Salem was a warlock trapped in a cat’s body after attempting to take over the world.  This Salem could talk and the show was so successful, that this origin was transferred over to the comics.

It’s not quite known yet whether the ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ will keep that element or not, but it is likely, seeing as how the older-skewing ‘Chilling Adventures’ comics feature a talking Salem.

We’ll know for sure on October 26, when the first ten-episode season of ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ becomes available on Netflix.  The show was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (‘Riverdale’) and he will serve as showrunner.  The series stars  Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, with Miranda OttoLucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Ross LynchBronson PinchotRichard Coyle, Jaz Sinclair,  Lachlan Watson, Tati Gabrielle,  Abigail F. Cowen, Adeline Rudolph, Gavin Leatherwood and Michelle Gomez.

Netflix ordered two seasons right from the start and both seasons were filmed back to back.  No word when the second season will premiere, but most likely it will be in fall of next year, around Halloween.
