american horror story: apocalypse

With the premiere of ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ in just a month, FX is rolling out all kinds of promotional material, including this latest teaser trailer.  It’s a little shorter than the clip they released last week, but perhaps offers a tease as to the storyline, as a human (or witch) hand is reaching out to grasp that of a black, monstrous hand with long talons.  ‘American Horror Story’ released this new clip via Twitter.

In addition, this new poster was also released.  As with a lot of the promotional artwork for ‘Apocalypse’ as well as the previous teaser trailer, the imagery of an hourglass is heavily featured, with a baby in one bulb… most likely Michael Langdon, the child of ghost Tate and human Vivien Harmon, who is believed to be the anti-Christ. The other bulb shows a mushroom cloud, playing up the ‘Apocalypse’ angle.

Both the poster and teaser prominently display the premiere date of the new season, September 12th.

The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy announced via Twitter that ‘Apocalypse’ would welcome back most of the witches from ‘Coven‘ (Season 3) Taissa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy and Stevie Nicks.  Sidibe’s Queenie was killed on Season 5, ‘Hotel’ so it will be interesting to see how she will return.  Nicks only made a couple of cameos as herself.  Will she be performing a concert at the end of the world?

Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates are expected to be the main characters on Season 8.  Paulson will mainly play her S3 role, Cordelia Goode (Foxx), but has confirmed that she will also reprise her S1 role medium Billie Dean Howard, who predicted that Michael Langdon would bring about the end of the world.  Paulson will also play a third, new role, a character named “Venable.”

Also returning is Jessica Lange but she is expected only appear in a limited capacity and is believed to only play one of her previous characters.  As delicious as her role as Supreme witch Fiona Goode was, it is believed that Lange will only bring back Michael’s grandmother Constance Langdon.

Other previous cast members who are returning are Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourd, Dylan McDermott, Denis O’Hare, Adina Porter and Emma RobertsJoan Collins joins as does Cody Fern who is playing grown up Michael Langdon.
