Holly Marie Combs was not thrilled with the idea of ‘Charmed‘ being rebooted while Shannen Doherty said that the idea made her happy and now the last of the three stars is weighing in on the remake. Alyssa Milano has been mostly quiet as to what is going on though now appears to be cautiously optimistic.

As the actress put it in a recent interview:

“I wish that they would have come to us and we would have been involved since the beginning. But having said that, I do hope that it reaches the newer generation and impacts that generation the way ours was able to do for its generation.”

We know that many of the same beats of the series are being hit while geared towards today’s younger generation and will star Sarah Jeffery, Melonie Diaz, and Madeleine Mantock as the three sisters who will be learning to live with their own lives while also discovering that they are witches. No word as to if any of their characters will eventually be killed off and replaced by a half-sister as was done to Doherty’s in the original show.

In another recent interview, Milano shared that:

“None of us from the original cast to the original creators, producers, or writers have anything to do with it. The way I feel about it is this, and I’ll just be super, super-honest: If the reboot can give the joy that it gave to our generation to a new generation, then I think that’s really beautiful. Time after time, I’ve heard story after story about how that show meant so much to people, because it was a show that they found while they were battling cancer, or it was a show that they watched with their father, and that was the only thing they could connect with. It really resonated with people in a profound way, and if a new generation can find that, then I think that’s really beautiful.”

She also shared that the creators “shouldn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but take what was so great about the original and find a way to make it their own.”

As one who is against reboots, she is a lot more openminded about this than I probably would have been in her shoes.

Do you agree with Alyssa Milano that the cast of the original ‘Charmed’ should have been included on decisions on the reboot? At what point should the cast and crew be involved in the remaking of a project that they helped create? Share your thoughts below!
