Vin Diesel took to Instagram to announce that ‘Bloodshot’, based on the Valiant Entertainment character has officially begun filming. In the video, he remarks “Day number one, baby. So blessed … Thank you for believing in me, thank you for believing in us.”
Dave Wilson is directing the movie, based on the character who was introduced in 1992, created by Kevin VanHook, Bob Layton, and Don Perlin. Bloodshot is an ex-soldier whose body is infused with nanites that grant him the ability to heal and morph his body. His mission is to discover his true identity and why he was granted these powers.
‘Bloodshot’ also stars Eiza González, Alex Hernandez, Sam Heughan, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Toby Kebbell, Lamorne Morris, Talulah Riley and Michael Sheen.
At one point, Jared Leto was rumored to be up for the lead in ‘Bloodshot’. Leto is no stranger to comic book movies, as he played the controversial punk rock version of The Joker in ‘Suicide Squad’ and is now attached to Sony’s ‘Morbius the Living Vampire’ a character plucked from the ‘Spider-Man’ comic universe.
‘Bloodshot’ is just the first Valiant concept headed to the big screen. There are also plans for the team ‘Harbinger’ and a solo movie for the member ‘Faith’ a.k.a. Zephyr. That will be followed by a crossover between ‘Bloodshot’ and ‘Harbinger’. Though it’s not official, fans have been expressing a desire to see Rebel Wilson portray Faith. Valiant is working with Sony on these film projects and while their initial deal was for only five movies, if these prove popular, there could always be more.
Are you a fan of Valiant’s comic books? Are you excited to see these characters brought to the big screen?
Sony and Valiant hope to have ‘Bloodshot’ in theaters by February 21, 2020.
