BB-8

I’m sure it comes to no surprise for fans of the “Star Wars” franchise but fan-favorite droid BB-8 is officially returning for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX.’ In a move that is shocking no one, Lucasfilm is bringing back the character which has likely sold the most new toys from the latest trilogy in the Skywalker Saga.

J.J. Abrams introduced the world to the character in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ so it should come as no surprise that the director would be bringing him back for the next outing.

The news came from the puppeteer who controls the lovable character:

Fans might be torn if they prefer BB-8 to R2D2 but no matter who is your favorite droid, we’re just happy that he’ll be rolling his way back onto the big screen.

Not that there was any real doubt.

Poe Dameron needs his best friend to help co-pilot his X-Wing into battle for the next movie, and we all know that doesn’t mean Finn as we’ve yet to see the ex-Stormtrooper pilot anything outside of the land speeder in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi.’

Are you thrilled to know that we’ll officially be seeing BB-8 return for ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’? Did anyone actually doubt that he’d be showing up once again to help The Resistance? Do you think that he’ll continue to have more screen time than R2D2? Will we see BB-8 fight off one of the New Order droids who share the same look in the upcoming film? Share your thoughts below!

‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ is slated to be released on December 20, 2019.
