If you thought that a Christmas Special wasn’t in the cards for the eleventh season of ‘Doctor Who’ then you’d be wrong! We’ve just learned about the release from showrunner Chris Chibnall who has confirmed that this yearly event would be continuing! As Season 11 isn’t going to air until Autumn there have been rumors swirling that BBC was going to put a hold on this annual festivity, but that isn’t the case!

It was rumored that it would happen a couple of weeks ago and now we have the confirmation that everyone has been waiting for! What a perfect present for any ‘Doctor Who’ fan: Another outing with The Doctor!

The information came from Chibnall and executive producer Matt Strevens who shared the details before the ‘Doctor Who’ Hall H panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Chibnall broke the news by saying that “We seem to be filming 11 episodes, and it’s only a series of 10.” Stevens was quick to interject by adding that, “I don’t know what happened. It’s a show about space and time, so it’s all quite abstract.” (Oh, those darned wibbly wobbly timey wimey shenanigans!) Chibnall confirmed of the Christmas special by saying, “I would definitely think there’s another episode after the end of the series, yeah.”

So while we don’t know what to expect quite yet, we do know that a Christmas miracle has been delivered to fans by BBC.

Are you happy to hear that we’ll be getting a Season 11 Christmas Special for ‘Doctor Who’? Did you have any doubt that this would end up happening? Do you think that there will be any other changes to the series due to the delayed season start? Share your thoughts below!
