Deadpool 2

Marvel Studios is sitting out San Diego Comic-Con, but the Marvel Comics heroes won’t be completely absent.  Fox will be attending and is bringing a treat– an extended “uncut” version of ‘Deadpool 2’.  The theatrical version arrived on May 2 and is still in wide release.  So far it has amassed $727 million, making it the year’s fifth highest-grossing film.  Fox didn’t reveal much about what would be included in this edit of the film, only promising “a super-duper special screening” plus “maybe some surprises.”  The ‘Uncut Screening’ will take place on Saturday, July 21, from 10 pm-12 am PT at San Diego’s Horton Grand Theatre which is located near the Convention Center.

This will follow a ‘Deadpool 2’ panel held at Hall H from 5:15pm-6:15pm.  It’s not confirmed who will be in attendance, other than some “pals.”

As successful as the ‘Deadpool’ movies are, expect more in the future with Fox also developing an ‘X-Force’ project.  A nascent version of ‘X-Force’ appeared in ‘Deadpool 2’ but it’s unclear if those characters will return for the film of the same name, although Lewis Tan who played Shatterstar recently revealed that he expected to be back, as he was approached to appear in ‘X-Force’ before ‘Deadpool 2.’

Producer Simon Kinberg said

“Drew [Goddard], Ryan [Reynolds], and I sat down and talked quite a bit about what X-Force would be, but we haven’t settled on who those characters are yet.  But certainly we’d want Cable and Domino to be part of it.”

Josh Brolin appeared as Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’, along with Zazie Beetz as Domino, with the expectation that they would go on to headline ‘X-Force’ but with various factors, including the possible buyout of Fox by Disney, it’s unclear what the cinematic future holds for the mutant franchise.

A date has not been announced for ‘Deadpool 2”s home video release, but that should be announced at the panel.  With this “uncut” version being screened, hopefully that means that this edition will be released on Blu-ray for fans who can’t make it to SDCC.
