McG Casts His Third Netflix Movie 'Rim Of The World'

Director McG‘s last Netflix original movie was the spoof ‘The Babysitter’ which lampooned old-school slasher movies while providing a few genuine chills of its own.  His next project ‘Rim of the World’ looks to take on two other classic tropes– summer camp thrillers and alien invasion flicks.

The screenplay was penned by Zack Stentz (‘The Flash’ TV series, ‘X-Men: First Class’, ‘Thor’, ‘Fringe’) and focuses on four misfit teenagers who must work together when their summer camp becomes the target of an alien invasion.  McG and Mary Viola are producing, while Stentz will serve as an executive producer along with Brad Mendelsohn, Steven Bello and Corey Marsh.

Now it appears that McG has assembled the cast:

The names and natures of the roles have not been disclosed.  But first up is Jack Gore (left), who previously appeared on ‘The Michael J. Fox Show’ and ‘Billions’.  Miya Cech has been seen on ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘American Housewife’.  Benjamin Flores Jr. starred on Nickelodeon’s ‘The Haunted Hathaways’ and ‘Game Shakers’.  King Bach (a.k.a. Andrew Bachelor) appeared in McG’s ‘The Babysitter’.  Before that, he appeared on ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘Black Jesus’ and his own sketch comedy series ‘King Bachelor’s pad’.

Alessio Scalzotto only has one prior acting role, as 14 year-old Pablo Picasso in the series ‘Genius’.  A member of the Groundlings comedy troupe, Tony Cavalero starred in Jack Black’s role as Dewey Finn in the TV version of ‘School of Rock’.  He also previously worked with McG in the film ‘The DUFF’ and on the TV series ‘Aim High’.  Rudy Mancuso appeared alongside King Bach in Carley Rae Jepsen’s music video ‘I Really Like You’.  He has also made appearances on the shows ‘Typical Rick’ and ‘Amigos’.  Carl McDowell also had a small role in ‘The Babysitter’.  He made numerous one-off appearances on shows such as ‘Southland’, ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Shameless’, ‘Rush Hour’ and ‘Animal Kingdom’ before landing a regular role on ‘Ballers’.

Longtime McG collaborator, Chris Wylde has appeared in the series ‘Aim High’, and the movies ‘The DUFF’ and ‘The Babysitter’.  He recently appeared on ‘Young Sheldon’ as did David Theune, who has also recently been seen on ‘Alex, Inc.’, ‘Language Academy’ and ‘LA to Vegas’.  Punam Patel may be remembered from ‘Adam Ruins Everything’, ‘Return of the Mac’ and ‘Kevin From Work’, the last of which, also starred Jason Rogel who has also been seen in ‘Homecoming’, ‘Bosch’ and ‘Raven’s Home’.

Finally, ‘Rim of the World’ stars Lynn Collins, Annabeth Gish and Michael Beach.  Collins may be best remembered for two box office disappointments– ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and ‘John Carter’, but before that, she had roles in ‘Haunted’ and ‘True Blood’ and more recently appeared in the miniseries ‘Manhunt: Unabomber’.

Gish made a splash in the ’80s classic ‘Mystic Pizza’ but has since enjoyed a lengthy and healthy career, appearing on ‘The West Wing’, ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigations’, ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘The X-Files’ and more.

Speaking of long and healthy careers, Beach has also starred in several series, like’ER’, ‘Third Watch’, ‘Stargate: Atlantis’, ‘The Client List’, ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘The Game’ and ‘The 100’.  He also has a role in the upcoming ‘Aquaman’ movie.
