Jeremy Jordan

We just learned that Jesse Rath, who played the Legion of Superheroes‘ Brainiac 5 in ‘Supergirl’ Season Three will be coming aboard as a series regular for this fall’s fourth season.  But it looks like Newton’s third law is true: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  With Rath coming aboard full-time, Jeremy Jordan is stepping down to recurring, meaning he won’t appear in every episode.  In the role of Winn Schott, Jordan has been a series regular since the first season that aired on CBS.  He originated as one of Kara’s coworkers at Catco, before leaving to work at the DEO.  He is one of Supergirl’s greatest allies, despite being the son of Winslow Schott Sr., the villain known as the Toyman.

Hints to Winn’s future will be revealed in the ‘Supergirl’ Season Three finale which airs Monday night at 8pm EST.  In the fall, ‘Supergirl’ shifts over to Sunday nights at 8pm.  For the second half of the season, ‘Supergirl’ had to tag team the same time slot with ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, but with the new Sunday time slot, all of the DC shows should be synced up in their broadcast schedules.

Executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller stated:

“We love Jeremy, and even though he’s [not going to be around full-time], we’re not saying goodbye to Winn at all.  We’re already breaking big stories for him right now for the fall, and I think the fans will be excited to see what he has coming up.”

The EPs also stated that in upcoming episodes, Winn will be “fulfilling his full potential.”

That means that the regular cast will now be Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen/The Guardian, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw/J’Onn J’Onzz/The Martian Manhunter, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers and Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, plus Rath.  Depending on how the finale goes, Chris Wood could be back as Mon-El with Odette Annable as Samantha Arias/Reign, but that’s unlikely.  Wood could easily come back, but it’s doubtful Reign will be kept around for a second season.

The CW has not yet announced when their new fall season will kick off, but expect an update as it gets closer.
