The Rocketeer

Disney has shared a teaser image from their upcoming animated ‘The Rocketeer‘ reboot. As you can see above, we’ve only got the silhouette of Kit, who is the main character, holding the jetpack and looking at the horizon that has just a hint of color hiding behind shadows. What we can see, looks beautiful. However, there is too little of it to get a feeling for what the show will look like.

For those unfamiliar with what is going on here, Disney has a new animated series for ‘The Rocketeer’ in the works. It was never made clear if this is a reboot or a continuation of the 1991 film. While the original movie didn’t make a dent at the box office, it was extremely well done for its time and has grown a cult following since its release with a potential ‘Rocketeers’ sequel announced in 2016.

What we do know of this new series is that it “follows Kit, a young girl who receives a surprise package on her birthday revealing that she’s next in line to become the Rocketeer, a legendary superhero who has the ability to fly with the help of a rocket-powered jetpack. Armed with her cool new gear and secret identity, Kit is ready to take flight and save the day with her gadget-minded best friend, Tesh, and airplane-mechanic uncle, Ambrose, who join her on epic adventures.”

While I’m perfectly okay with this new series targeting a younger audience for Disney Jr., I do hope this means that they haven’t scrubbed the plans for a feature film aimed at adults.
