Todd Stashwick who played Richard Sionis, aka The Mask, on ‘Gotham‘ is currently working as one of the writers for DC Film’s ‘Suicide Squad 2.’ While we know Warner Bros. has wanted to push this film forward, there hasn’t been many details on what to expect from it or when so far. With DC currently having multiple Joker and Harley Quinn films in production on top of what their heroes are up to it almost felt as if the sequel to ‘Suicide Squad‘ had been left in the dust.
Fans of Task Force X though should be thrilled to know that they haven’t been forgotten. Stashwick recently shared how he became involved:
“We sat down, [Gavin O’Connor] started picking my brain, and he could see that this is something that I have a deep passion for and I understand genre. That’s kind of what I like to write in. And then once we started bouncing ideas back, there’s a third writer, David Bar Katz, the three of us are writing it together. And so once we started talking and just bouncing ideas back and forth, he was like ‘This is the team. This is who I want for this.’”
It sounds as if the trio has a tremendous collaborating process so far. The exciting takeaway though is “This is the team. This is who I want for this” which doesn’t make it clear if we’ll be seeing the surviving villains from the first movie front and center or perhaps a fresh set of bad guys signing on.
I’m guessing we’d see Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn and Will Smith’s Deadshot back for sure though I’m not quite as confident that the rest of the cast outside of Viola Davis as Amanda Waller will return.
