John Ridley Needle In A Timestack

Oscar-winning writer/director/producer John Ridley’s next picture is a science fiction drama called ‘Needle In A Timestack’, adapted from a short story by Robert Silverberg.  The film is set in a world where time travel is possible and reality is flexible due to people tinkering with the past present and future.  A man discovers his marriage has been erased by a rival and must fight to win his former wife back.  Ridley won the Academy Award in 2014, for writing the screenplay to ’12 Years A Slave’.  Lately, he has been busy with television work, on shows such as ABC’s ‘American Crime’ and Showtime’s ‘Guerrilla’.

Four cast members have been added–  Leslie Odom Jr., Freida Pinto, Cynthia Erivo, and Orlando Bloom.  Because ‘Needle In A Timestack’ is in pre-production, it’s unknown what their roles are.

Odom Jr. may be best known for his stage work, having won the Tony and Grammy Awards for his role in ‘Hamilton’.  He was seen last year in Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’.  Prior to that, he appeared in the film ‘Red Tails’ and on television, he had recurring roles on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, ‘Person of Interest’, ‘Smash’, and ‘CSI: Miami’.  He will be seen in the movie ‘Sister’ directed by Sia (the pop singer?), which also features Kate Hudson and Gina Weber and in the CBS All Access murder mystery series ‘$1’.

Pinto co-stars with Odom Jr. in the upcoming science fiction film ‘Only’, written and directed by Takashi Doscher.
