Half of the universe was wiped out at the end of ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ and one hero who faded out of existence has already confirmed that they’ll be returning in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘. We all suspected that the events which saw Thanos winning at the end of the film were going to be somehow undone and this appears to confirm that is meant to be happening.
Even with those who were on the fence as to if these heroes would find a way back to the land of the living, it has long been clear that at least some would return. The reason being is that a sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ was the first film slated after the next Avengers film.
So who spilled the beans> Obviously, there is a spoiler below!
The news came directly from Dave Bautista who plays Drax in these films. While he didn’t give away the specifics he did confirm that the Destroyer would be back for another two outings so don’t expect this to be just flashbacks.
Here is what the actor had to say about his return to Collider:
“I got a lot of texts saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re dead, your character is dead.’ They were really like heartbroken and I was like ‘I’m gonna be in four. I’m gonna be in Guardians 3.’ I don’t know how they’re bringing me back, yeah but somehow I’m going to make it because, as far as I know, I am going to be in Guardians 3, so I have to be back.”
With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ looking to be the last run of our current Guardians and take place after the still untitled ‘Avengers 4,‘ you can imagine that everyone is going to have some amazing moments to shine. It is fun to note that much of the shooting was done separately so it is very probable that Bautista has no idea how his character returns to the land of the living as he would have been phased out of existance as our remaining Avengers find a way to restore the universe to what it was before Thanos was able to snap his fingers.
