Well, it only took three seasons, but one of Daredevil’s most popular enemies, Bullseye, will come to live action in ‘Daredevil’ season three on Netflix.
Wilson Bethel will portray the assassin known for his deadly precision. In 2015, there were rumblings that Jason Statham was in talks to play this character, but supposedly the fact that this news leaked prompted Statham to walk away, and to take a few verbal jabs at Marvel in the process. Bethel was cast on ‘Daredevil’ in November, but it was under the false description as “FBI Agent.” There have been a few takes on Bullseye in the comics and he has been known by the names “Lester,” “Benjamin Poindexter” and during the Marvel MAX run, “Sheldon Pendergrass.” Since the shows don’t directly adapt the comics, expect Bethel’s Bullseye to be an amalgam of the different comic book incarnations. (There is also a female Bullseye, Maki Matsumoto, who is more commonly referred to as Lady Bullseye.)
Bethel joins Jay Ali who will play another FBI Agent, Ray Nadeem. Joanne Whaley has been cast as Matt Murdock’s mother, Sister Maggie. In addition, the regular cast, Charlie Cox, Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will return and after being absent from most of Season Two, Vincent D’Onofrio returns as the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk.
Bethel was recently seen on the series ‘How to Get Away With Murder’ which stars Viola Davis. Perhaps that is how he ended up appearing on the series ‘American Koko’, which Davis narrates. Bethel previously starred on the series ‘The Young and the Restless’, ‘Generation Kill’, ‘Hart of Dixie’, ‘The Astronaut Wives Club’ and ‘Blood & Oil’. He executive produced, wrote and starred in the series ‘L.A. Rangers’.
Colin Farrell portrayed Bullseye in the 2003 ‘Daredevil’ theatrical movie, which also starred Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Jon Favreau and Michael Clarke Duncan.
Netflix has not announced when the third season of ‘Daredevil’ will premiere, but it is expected in the fall of this year.
