henry cavill superman

Let’s be frank for a second, ‘Justice League‘ bombed at the office. It is up to debate if the outcome would have been different had Zach Snyder‘s take on the film seen the light of day but Henry Cavill is sure of one thing – the “true Superman” would have graced the big screen if it had. With this in mind, fans who have been crying out for a hero at Warner Brothers to release the Snyder cut of ‘Justice League’ have to be all the more torn up about it. The Superman we got isn’t what Snyder initially had in mind for the movie.

An interview with a clean-shaven Superman, likely meaning it was filmed far before Snyder leaving the production, had the actor going on record saying that:

“In my opinion, this is the first time we see Superman in truth. We have seen the origin story of Superman. We have seen the downfall and doubt of Superman. And finally, with this rebirth, we see the true Superman. The Superman who is confident and sure, and full of hope and joy.”

It looks like there will never be a “first time” if that is true. As mentioned above this was Cavill without a mustache. He only shaved it off recently and has had it from pre-production on the film until now. That means this interview was taken prior to the film’s production really ramping up or before Whedon’s involvement.

Is this another reason that you wish that the Snyder cut of ‘Justice League’ will see the light of day or do you think Cavill was just hyping up his part in the film? Were you happy with the Superman we ended up seeing or do you feel that the Snyder was going to deliver us something else entirely? Share your thoughts below!
