Netflix is set to bring us what looks to be their most ambitious (and EXPENSIVE) series ever, with ‘Lost In Space‘. Showrunner Zack Estrin also executive produces with the show’s writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, as well as Kevin Burns of Synthesis Entertainment, Jon Jashni and Applebox’s Neil Marshall and Marc Helwig.
Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination. Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith (Posey) is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) is a highly-skilled, blue-collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.
The cast consists of Molly Parker as mother/aerospace engineer Maureen Robinson, Toby Stephens as father John Robinson, Taylor Russell as the Robinson’s eldest child, daughter Judy, Mina Sundwall as middle child Penny and Maxwell Jenkins as young son Will. Ignacio Serricchio plays Don West, while Parker Posey portrays Dr. Smith. Raza Jaffrey portrays a new character, Victor Dhar, a well-groomed politician, hiding his insecurities under a confident mask.

‘Lost In Space’ was a classic science fiction series that originally ran on CBS for three seasons from 1965-68, and has lived on in syndication since. A live-action film version was released in 1998 but did not perform well enough to lead to sequels.
‘Lost In Space’ takes off on April 13. The first season consists of 10 episodes.
