Arsenal Roy Harper Arrow

We’ve known it was coming for some time now, but recently released photos have given us our first look of Colton Haynes back on ‘Arrow’ in the upcoming 15th episode of Season 6 (titled ‘Doppelganger). The photos (all of which you can check out below) seem to have Roy bound and imprisoned by either cops or people pretending to be police, only to be rescued by Speedy, now appearing to be fully recovered from her coma, and back in costume and part of Team Arrow’s fighting force, as the other photos show her out with Green Arrow and Spartan. Intriguing for the episode, we also see a photo of the Black Siren in a hospital bed being looked over by Quentin, meaning she might still be recovering from her wounds by the time we get to episode 15, and there is also a shot of Anatoly after having been knocked to the ground, meaning the man is still in Star City causing trouble following the Cayden James fiasco.

But of course, the big news is the return of Roy, which fans have been waiting to see happen for a very long time. And not just the fans, star Stephen Amell made his own thoughts on the return of Colton Haynes as Roy very clear during a convention appearance last year when he said:

“If we end this show, whenever it happens to end, without seeing Roy Harper again, I think we will have made a tragic mistake.”

So of course, Amell and fans are both very excited that Roy will indeed be making a return this season for a small arc, news which was first announced by executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle:

“We’re thrilled to announce that Colton Haynes will be reprising his role as Roy Harper for a short arc on Arrow this year. Roy is called back to Star City to help resolve an urgent matter with high stakes for the team. His short visit turns into something surprising when he reunites with Thea and sparks a change in both of their lives that will have long-lasting consequences…”

And to make Roy’s homecoming even more exciting, the arc also includes the return of fan-favorite Nyssa Al-Ghul this season, who disappeared following the events of the finale last spring:

“In an unforgettable episode that will change Arrow forever, Katrina Law returns as the Daughter of the Demon, Nyssa Al Ghul. Nyssa comes to Star City to warn of an impending danger that will threaten everything we know and love.”

Sadly though, it seems the 2 episode Roy arc will be interrupted by a repeat episode, as it appears on March 15th, the day the second episode of the Roy arc (titled the ‘The Thanatos Guild’) was supposed to air, the CW is airing a special called ‘Tough Mudder, Tougher Together’ instead of ‘Arrow’s regular lead-in, ‘Supernatural,’ which led them to push a new episode of ‘Arrow’ back to March 22nd. It seems pretty silly in my opinion, especially when the return of Roy is such a hyped up event for the series, and now we not only have to wait an extra week to see the end of the arc, but casual fans might get very confused about the random repeat. But I’m sure they have their reasons.

And here’s the synopsis for Roy’s return episode:

ROY HARPER RETURNS — Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) are shocked to hear that Roy Harper (guest star Colton Haynes) is back in Star City.
