Both the ‘G.I. Joe’ and ‘Transformers’ brands have been fan favorites among the toy community for over three decades! After all of these years, collectors still can’t seem to get enough of these popular brands, but there’s only so many ways the team at Hasbro can produce the same characters year after year! That’s where the team at Whatnot Toys, who recently licensed the two brands from Hasbro, comes in with their new Super Deformed Figures that they were showing off at New York Toy Fair 2018 this week!

We spoke to Ned Garret of Whatnot Toys who gave us the lowdown on what to expect from these fantastic looking new stylized minifigures!

“These are super deformed G.I. Joes, deformed in the sense that their heads are larger, and that gives them a certain kind of attitude! They’ve got a really solid feel to them, they’re a heavy vinyl resin, and we’ve got them in 2″ and 4″ scales! The 2″ will be blindboxed, while the 4″ will come in a window box. They’re articulated and can hold their weapons, with each figure including their characters signature weapon like Roadblock’s machine gun! And we have got vehicles! Every vehicle is going to all have moving parts and the figures are able to actually sit in them.”

“We are really excited about the line and have a number of other figures planned! We are really going to listen to collectors too, and try to give them what they want as far as what characters and what versions of the characters are being made, and even things like accessories and environments! We want to do environmental displays! Like maybe Destro has a server stack or a weapons cache!”

This writer can attest as a longtime fan of the G.I. Joe license, this all sounds amazing! Stylized takes on classic versions of some of our favorite Joe characters, plus vehicles and environments? Sounds like a win to us!

Ned also gave us a quick rundown of what we can expect from their Transformers line, saying:

“We’ve got Transformers based on the live action movies! We were talking about doing G-1, but this is what we have got right now! They’ve got the same type of body and articulation as the Joes, but with a ton of attention to detail! These are just prototypes, but they manage to simplify and streamline the characters while keeping the spirit of the character alive! These will also come in display boxes.for the 4″ figures, while the mini 2″ figures will come in three packs!”

These new ‘G.I. Joe’ and ‘Transformers’ Super Deformed Figures are going to be hitting the market in just a few weeks! Both scales should become available at the same time  We will keep you posted with more news on both lines as it hits.
